Welcome to Barefoot Yoga Studio!

Barefoot Yoga Studio is a true first for the village of Lucan. Noticing that the area was lacking a studio that brought all aspects of yoga and fitness together under one roof, this custom built studio was developed and is the only studio in the area that offers a full range of yoga and fitness classes, from beginner to expert levels.

Some of the classes offered at Barefoot Yoga Studio are Hot Yoga, Beginners Yoga, Pilates, Meditation, Fitness classes and Mum & Baby classes making Barefoot Yoga Studio a pioneer facility in the industry.

All our instructors are fully qualified and experienced and genuinely care for your well-being. We keep our class numbers small enough to know each individual and cater to everyone's needs. Our studios are warm and friendly with a community atmosphere.

YIN YOGA TOMORROW @ 4PM TO BOOK CALL 0831579543 OR BOOK THROUGH THE WEBSITE... Yin yoga is a form of yoga which is performed to stretch the connective tissues of the body. Primary connective tissues include the hips, thighs and lower spinal area. These types of tissues do not stretch the muscles but they stretch and exercise the bone and joints areas of the body. This type of asana practice is beneficial to a wide variety of people. Benefits of Yin Yoga Yin yoga improves the body in a variety of ways. These may include: Feeling calm and balanced Regulated energy levels (chi) Greater strength Improved health Stress levels lowered Greater stamina Flexibility of the body’s connective tissues and joints Slowed signs of aging Improved meditation Deeper relaxation Improved practice of yang yoga This type of yoga is suitable for beginners and the experienced yogi. HOT YOGA FLOW TOMORROW @ 12.15PM This is our core class. It incorporates a flowing, dynamic form of yoga sequences aligned with organic breathing. Taught with specific alignment and timing to optimise the benefits of practicing yoga in a heated environment, the room temperature is kept at 30ºC using infra-red heaters to help facilitate a deep and effective stretch to your entire body. You will notice that the heat creates a detoxifying sweat, and leaves you with a healthy glow. The postures in this class are diverse so that they balance out both strength and flexibility; the routine usually includes standing sequences, inversions, forward bends, twists, hip openers, arm-balances and backbends, finishing with savasana (final meditation). PREGNANCY YOGA TOMORROW MORNING @ 10.30AM Pregnancy Yoga is one of the best things that you can do for yourself, as well as your growing baby :) As baby grows within our body, more energy and strength is needed to be able to carry the weight. Yoga poses strengthen our hips, back, arms and shoulders. Pregnancy Yoga Relieves tension of lower back, hips, chest, upper back, neck and shoulders. You are working with conscious breathing during each yoga pose, which may sometimes be challenging. This transfers into the time of labor, allowing one to practice being "comfortable with the uncomfortable" through our breathwork. As you inhale, you acknowledge the tension that is felt. As you deeply exhale, you let go of it more and more with each breath. This time allows us to stop and slow down from our busy days. HIP OPENING WORKSHOP Date: Saturday, 11th March 2017 Time: 11am to 1pm Hip-openers are some of the most requested asanas as they bring release in many areas that are tight and bring a sense of release across the board to many practitioners. There are over 20 muscles that cross the hip: the collection of inner thigh muscles known as the adductors, the collection of outer thigh muscles known as the abductors, the hip flexors in front, deep lateral rotators in back, and more. When hips are tight, they increase the load and cause overuse of the spine. In addition to the benefits of improved range of motion and circulation and decreased back pain, opening the hips can create an energetic shift or release as well. In this 2 hr workshop you will delve into both yin and yang! Starting with a creative vinyasa flow sequence with a focus of releasing tension and opening the complex hip structure. This will prepare the body for some sweet, long held yin poses.
