10.0 Class Etiquette and Helpful Hints 10.1 Our Barefoot Yoga & Fitness studio is an intimate and communal environment that functions best when everyone honours each other and the space. 10.2 It is advised to refrain from eating 1 to 2 hours before practice or eat very light as yoga is best practiced on an empty stomach. Wear loose comfortable clothing and bring a bottle of water for hydration. 10.3 No shoes are permitted in the yoga studio. In yoga, practitioners put their hands, and sometimes their faces on the floor so we keep the studio a shoe-free zone. 10.4 Please leave mobile phones outside the yoga studio. If you have to bring your phone inside the studio make sure it is OFF – not on silent or vibrate mode. 10.5 Arrive a few minutes early. Allow yourself ample time to set up. Make ‘being on time’ part of your practice. If you happen to be late; take a few breaths, unroll your mat outside and then enter the studio slowly and quietly. 10.6 If you have to leave a class early, tell your teacher and leave quietly before the closing relaxation. 10.7 Be respectful to yourself. Make sure your teacher is aware of any pre-existing condition or injury that might affect your practice. Honour your body and practice within your body’s limitations. 10.8 Yoga is not a competitive sport! And it is not just a ‘workout’. It is a mufti-dimensional practice, which makes the body, mind and spirit stronger, more flexible and generally much healthier. Calm your mind, open your heart and enjoy yourself. 10.9 Be kind to yourself. Take rests. Remember wherever you are; you are perfect
