Do you spend long periods of time siting in a chair? Does your work or home life involve a lot of stress? Perhaps you feel your body tightening, as you are getting older? Then Yin Yoga could be the perfect yoga for you!
What to expect
Yin Yoga is an incredibly relaxing style of yoga suitable for all body types. The yoga postures are predominantly seated poses and can involve props to support your body into relaxation.
Yin Yoga focuses on stimulating fascia tissue within your body, instead of stimulating or contracting muscles like other dynamic styles of yoga. By doing so, you are able to moisten and soften the tissue, create more range of motion in your joints and counteract the tightening of your body’s tissue.
Yin Yoga stimulates fascia and opens joints by holding the poses for 3-5 minutes. The idea is that you should be holding these poses in absolute relaxation and your teacher will be there to assist you throughout the class with props and supports.
After your Yin class, you will leave feeling relaxed and restored!
